Serviette Magazine and The Lighthouse present Tasting Notes, a new magazine fair dedicated to independent food publishing. On October 17, more than 25 food-focused publications from across Europe and North America will gather at The Lighthouse Brooklyn, a campus for creators and creatives, bringing together the people working across food, publishing, hospitality and culture. The fair will take over The Lighthouse Test Kitchen and Library, where guests can browse and buy magazines, meet the editors and creators behind them, and catch food demos throughout the day. Conversations with editors, journalists, chefs and creators will explore how food and hospitality are being documented, discussed and experienced, in print, online and beyond. Participating publications include Serviette, Saveur, Cake Zine, Roads & Kingdoms, Off-Menu, Above the Fold, Sexy Plates Sexy Space, Kitchen Table, Toothsome, Leaves, Chicken + Bread, Chickpea Mag, Full Pour, and MOLD, with more to be announced. A Matter of Taste: Restaurants in Contemporary Culture Restaurants are more than places to eat. They're cultural spaces shaping how we gather, create, and experience the world. As part of Tasting Notes, join us for a conversation exploring the intersection of food, design, hospitality, and contemporary culture. From the rise of the taste economy to the influence of restaurant design and the growing value of real-world experiences, we'll unpack how restaurants have become powerful drivers of culture and creativity. Moderated by Emma Orlow (Caper Media), the conversation features Max Meighen, publisher of Serviette; Kyle Chayka, author and cultural critic; and William Kammler, interior designer at Golden Age Hospitality. The conversation begins at 2:30 PM, Presented in partnership with Casa Magazines, Iconic Magazines and Caper Media. Entry to the fair is free.
