Trance Records presents: ARE U LISTENING? EP.002: tahjii

tahjii is a New York-native, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer of Jamaican heritage — the first artist signed to Talia Goddess’ label Trance Records. His debut EP ‘vacation’ soundtracks like a diary; raw, unfiltered, and introspective. Entirely self-written and produced, he masterfully blends indie alternative, lo-fi hip-hop, and experimental rock into pages that read as both grungy DIY and emotionally cutting. For the second ARE U LISTENING? session, we are introducing tahjii’s forthcoming EP ‘DEMO’, prefaced with lead single ‘leaving a mark’ releasing Thursday, September 3rd. The project explores ideas around permanence and impermanence — what stays with us throughout time, the imprint a person or moment can leave on the mind and body, and the renewal that comes with intentional solitude and introspection. The project will release as a living moment experienced collectively, contextualized through dialogue, and opened up to real-time reflection — positioning the audience not just as listeners, but as participants in the unfolding of the work. tahjii is a New York-native artist and multi-instrumentalist producer whose music is deeply rooted in introspection and experimentation. Shaped by a Long Island upbringing, his journey into music began at age ten, when his grandmother encouraged him to study piano. From there, his craft took root at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts and later expanded at Berklee College of Music, where tahjii ultimately chose to step away from traditional pathways in order to reconnect with his artistic intuition and emotional truth. Blending indie alternative, lo-fi hip-hop, and experimental rock, tahjii creates immersive soundscapes that feel diaristic, raw, and deeply human.
