What can horror reveal about our histories, our realities, and the structures that shape society? Never Whistle at Night, Part II: Back for Blood brings together twenty-one Indigenous writers for a collection of dark fiction spanning supernatural terror, psychological horror, monsters, violence, and the everyday realities of living under colonialism. Featuring writers including Stephen Graham Jones, Tommy Orange, Alicia Elliott, Billy-Ray Belcourt, Jessica Johns, and more, the anthology draws on horror as both a literary tradition and a means of confronting history, identity, survival, and power. Edited by Shane Hawk and Theodore Van Alst Jr. Event Details: Join Lit Club NYC for an evening discussing Never Whistle at Night over drinks and conversation. Together, we'll explore the many ways these writers use horror to examine Indigenous experience and systems of power: What makes the genre uniquely suited to confronting historical and contemporary violence? How do folklore, superstition, and cultural memory shape the stories we tell about what frightens us? Where is the line between supernatural terror and the horrors of the real world? And what does it mean to transform adversity into art? Whether you're a longtime horror reader or rarely venture into the genre, come ready for thoughtful discussion, meaningful connection, and a conversation about fear, survival, storytelling, and the things that haunt us. New to the anthology? Never Whistle at Night, Part II can be read as a standalone; there’s no need to have read Part I to enjoy the collection or join the discussion! 🎟️ Standard Ticket includes guided programming. Drinks and food can be purchased a la carte! 💛 Supported Pricing Lit Club aims to make literary community as accessible as possible.
