An exploration of bliss within down-tempo and tempo-less sonics. Funkin Donut’s vinyl sets are an expression of his curiosities as a Brazilian-Armenian music filmmaker and multi-instrumentalist. Central to his practice is connecting sound across culture, geography, and time with fluidity. Expect thoughtful selections in pursuit of emotional palettes rather than rigid sonic profiles and genre guidelines. Erik’s musical journey began with Brazilian percussion as a toddler and has led him to explore music as a multi-instrumentalist and a filmmaker. He’s spent the last 7 years documenting and researching ancestral music traditions around the world, like remote nomadic Saharan desert tribes and their ritual music, anti-patriarchal women’s music in Morocco, New Orleans brass bands, Afro-Cuban percussion, Andalusian folk music, South Asian oral music traditions and more.
