Happy Hour: SYNTHBIOSIS

After a year long hiatus, SYNTHBIOSIS returns with its signature lineup of local live electronics punctuated with a DJ set. This time around we have a new home at Bossa Nova Civic Club. SYNTHBIOSIS founder SEV1 is a live techno artist from NYC. He uses samplers and modular synths to improvise percussive, deep and hypnotic sets. Janus Rose is a NYC-based producer, dj and hardware electronic artist. A veteran of New York’s electronic music underground, her practice emphasizes modular synthesis, live hardware performance, and leftfield dj sets featuring a club-forward, sophisticated sound palette. Along with Maude Vôs, she is the co-director of Delusional Records, a queer femme-fronted label based in Los Angeles and NYC, and the host of SOFT_RESET, a local party exploring the soft edges of experimental bass and club music. Constructible is a Brooklyn-based producer and DJ. Inspired by David Mancuso's loft parties from New York's experimental dance scene of the seventies, they aim to curate the noises of early-morning aural hypnotism. Their sets often range from minimal grooves and ambient organic textures to air-thickening psychedelia. As a producer, their tracks mirror their work as a mathematician, exercising the concepts of geometry and topology to inform their voice. Their releases act as cogitations in sculpting sonic spaces through geometric principles: manipulating the actions, invariance, and transformations of sound.
