north Carolina-born cellist and vocalist Kelsey Lu recorded their debut EP live at a Brooklyn church with a loop pedal, pushing gospel music into experimental territory. raised as a Jehovah's Witness, they fled home at 18 and chose to record in a Roman Catholic church—a deliberate subversion of their strict upbringing.
